The Wildlife Artist

My name is Aaron Honeycutt and I am the taxidermist at Fox-fire Taxidermy. I first began doing this work as a teenager in 1968 while taking a correspondence course from the old Northwestern School of Taxidermy in Omaha, Nebraska. My first efforts looked very rough but I was determined. Since those early days foam, video and the modern computer have become available. Materials and methods have improved vastly and the general quality of taxidermy almost everywhere is much better.

In 1985 I first attended the spring Taxidermy Mini Course held at Roxboro, North Carolina and began dreaming of becoming a professional taxidermist. I attended every seminar I could in my part of the world and kept mounting critters. In 1997 I went full-time. I have taught some taxidermy at the Central Carolina Community College in Pittsboro and at Piedmont Community College in Roxboro. I also do some individual instruction in my shop.

I am a life member of the National Taxidermists Association and a member of the North Carolina Taxidermists Association. I have both state and federal licenses for taxidermy and I am a licensed fur dealer.

At Fox-fire Taxidermy my goal is to provide quality commercial mounts that my customers can be proud of.
